Tips for Staying Calm During Your Commute

Long commutes are a reality for many of us, and when long commutes are accompanied by heavy traffic it can become a high-stress time. But, it doesn’t have to be. You can use this time to relax before getting to work or home to your family. Here are some tips on how to have a less stressful commute:

  • Riding with someone can make the time fly by, especially if you guys have a nice topic to discuss. Also, with the exception of teen drivers, you're less likely to crash when there's a passenger.
  • Pick a great playlist to listen to. Play music that will make you happy and calm. This will help you take your mind off of a stressful drive.
  • Be sure to breathe. We sometimes forget to breathe when in stressful situations. Being aware of your breathing can help you remain calm.
  • Slow down and don't dart in and out of traffic. Rushing will increase your anxiety.
